Colon Cleansing and Enemas

Enema is a liquid injected through the rectum into the lower bowel as a purgative, as a medicine, or for diagnostic purposes. Undergoing enema treatment helps get rid of excess waste in the colon due to eating foods that are high in fat and sugar content but low in fiber.

These foods cause peristalsis, a wormlike series of movements of the small intestines to become weak and ineffective. When it is deficient, it causes constipation and IBS. The foods can get stuck along the process of digestion and then can become toxic. When this happens, the poisons are distributed instead of eliminated.

Thus, it is essential to undergo a colon cleanse. Below is a list of types of Enema treatment to help eliminate toxins in the body.

• Barium Enema is commonly used in hospitals. It is done when the large intestine undergoes X-ray examination wherein it helps diagnose health problems found in the large intestine.

• Coffee Enema the most common type helps detoxify the liver. It is a procedure wherein coffee solution is transferred from the rectum to the colon and the liver. The caffeine present in the coffee stimulates bile juice production which is removed from the small intestine. Take note that only regular ground coffee can be used in this procedure.

• Epsom Salt Enema is very useful and a highly recommended cleanser due to its laxative effect. The Epsom salt in the water helps increase the intestine’s water absorption.

• Garlic Epsom Salt Enema requires three cloves chopped garlic mixed in two quarts of boiling water. Let the mixture simmer for about five minutes then add two tablespoon of Epsom salt.

• Lemon Juice Enema needs 1/3 cup of real lemon juice per quart or juice from 2 lemons mixed with warm filtered water. It helps in cleansing colon of feces. This treatment can cause cramping and mild irritation to the intestinal lining. However, it will help balance the pH factor in the colon.

• Milk Enema is a mixture of 16 ounces warm milk, 1 1/2 quart warm water and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. The treatment relieves patient with constipation, removes toxins and help in excretion.

• Salt and Soda Enema needs 2 quarts water, 1 tablespoon sea salt and 1 tablespoon baking soda. This help remove toxins in the colon.

• Salt Water Enema lessens water transfer in and out of the colon that prevents water accumulation in both kidneys and bladder. This cuts down trips to the bathroom while undergoing the treatment. For the mixture, just add 1 tablespoon of salt per quart of water.

• Vinegar Enema uses 2 quarts of warm water with 2 tablespoon of white vinegar. Take note that the treatment is not suitable for people suffering rectal bleeding.

• Yoghurt Enema is used for people suffering from inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, colon cancer, irritable bowel syndrome and hemorrhoids. The good bacteria found in the yoghurt contribute to the cleansing process.

The colon cleanse enema treatments mentioned above can get rid of toxins. However, it is better to seek medical experts to know which treatment is best.
